SXSW (South by SouthWest) is right around the corner (Tues, March 15 - Sun, March 20) and Makin' It Magazine is once again helping independent artists book performances during the largest music festival of its kind.
Drawing tens-of-thousands of artists, fans and industry execs to the city of Austin, SXSW offers indies the opportunity to create new fans and life changing connections. While over 2,000 acts are booked each year for official SXSW events, there are thousands more that descend on the city looking for opportunities to perform. This has led to numerous unofficial events popping up to fill the void.
Unfortunately, not all promoters have the artists' best interests in mind. Some falsely claim to be OFFICIAL events making promises they can't deliver on. Others put together wack showcases (Subpar talent, No Promo, Unorganized, etc.) just to get money out of unsuspecting artists. Worst of all are the ones who take money for performances on shows that don't exist or that they're not even involved with. We've seen it all!
For the past 4 years, we've used our connections to help independent artists book promotional shows during SXSW. Having relationships with top promoters, we're able to secure performance opportunities on legitimate events for our clients.
Artists submit information about when they'll be in town and their budget for setting up shows. After reviewing their music, we look for stages that would be a good fit for their style of music and put together a schedule that secures them the most performances based on their budget.
As an individual artist, you are at the mercy of the promoter, especially if you have a smaller budget and something goes wrong. Because we have established relationships and book multiple performers on stages we are able to get the best prices and preferred performance times. The fact that we have an email blast, website and nationally distributed magazine that reaches over 100K artists, managers, and industry professionals, is also a good incentive for promoters to work with our clients to resolve any issues.
Each year, we have access to up to 15 stages and book more than 40+ performances.
We do all of this without charging the artist for booking service... or adding fees to performance cost!
This Opportunity has already ended but check out some of the other great opportunities available below!
