Spotify beats lawsuit over alleged fake Drake streams
Spotify has won permanent dismissal of rapper RBX's class action claiming it ignored bot-driven Drake streams that diverted at least $600 million in royalties from other artists. Judge Josephine Staton ruled Oct. 23 that Spotify owed no legal duty to stop third-party bots and barred a refiling; Drake was never a defendant, and RBX's lawyer says an appeal is likely. Under pooled royalties, fake streams still shrink real artists' share.
