Meet the artist
M.Gardner
Detroit · producer, songwriter, engineer
M.Gardner has been making records in Detroit for more than 15 years. He came up through school band and orchestra, and today he makes R&B, Hip-Hop and Afrobeats, often blending them in one track.
He does more than send beats. He writes, remixes and engineers too, so he can work on your song from the first idea to the final mix.
Now he's making his next album with independent artists, and he wants as many voices on it as he can find.
Influenced by Timbaland, The Neptunes, Just Blaze, Trackmasters and Dr. Dre.

What you get
Contest terms
- The beats belong to M.Gardner. Downloading them gives you permission to write and record to them for this contest only. Don't share or re-upload the beat files.
- You may not sell, release or distribute a song on these beats unless it is selected for the album and you sign the release agreement. Songs that aren't selected: you keep your lyrics and vocals; releasing on the same beat needs a separate lease from M.Gardner.
- Your lyrics and vocals are original and yours, with no uncleared samples, and every featured artist agrees to the submission.
- Up to 3 submissions per beat. Submitting doesn't guarantee selection or feedback. M.Gardner and Makin' It choose the songs, and priority consideration is reserved by Mimbership level as described above. Decisions are final.
- Makin' It and M.Gardner may use your name, likeness and clips of your song to promote the album and the listening party.
- If your song is selected, you sign a release agreement before anything comes out. It sets the splits, credits and release terms.
- Selected artists may be invited to perform at the listening party in Austin, Texas during SXSW.
