Dante Gist, professionally known as Tay MOB, is a Pittsburgh recording artist, tattoo artist, visual creative, entrepreneur and father building a brand that reaches far beyond music.

Tay MOB's story is about turning real-life experiences into creativity, ownership and eventually opportunity for other people.

His independent music journey stretches back approximately a decade, with publicly released music dating to at least 2016. Over the years, Tay MOB has continued developing his sound through solo records, collaborative releases and projects including the Top Dog Affiliated EP.

His catalog has included records such as “Legacy,” “Toxic,” “SkipTo My Lue,” “CELEBRATION!,” “FIRE,” “Girl Go Head” and “Unruly,” while collaborations have connected him with numerous independent artists.

But music represents only one part of Dante's artistry.

For more than a decade, he has also developed his craft as a tattoo artist. Working under the Mob Up Inkk / Mr. Mob Up Inkk identity, Dante views tattooing as another form of storytelling. A tattoo can represent pain, family, loss, survival, love, achievement or an important chapter of somebody's life.

That philosophy inspired an even larger concept combining tattoo sessions, interviews, music, livestreaming and storytelling—allowing people to explain the real meaning behind the artwork they carry.

Dante also draws and creates visual concepts, allowing his creativity to move naturally between paper, skin, music and digital media.

TOP DOG AFFILIATED

Top Dog Affiliated represents the larger movement behind Tay MOB.

Dante's long-term goal is to develop TDA beyond a traditional independent music label into a creative umbrella connecting music, tattoos, visual art, media, entrepreneurship and community development.

Instead of separating his talents, he is building a system where they can strengthen one another.

Music can support visual content.

Visual art can become tattoos.

Tattoos can become stories.

Stories can become interviews and media.

Media can build an audience.

And eventually that audience and business infrastructure can help create opportunities for other people.

MORE THAN AN ARTIST

Fatherhood plays an important role in Dante's motivation.

As a father of three sons, he increasingly measures success by something larger than popularity.

He wants to create a legacy.

His life hasn't followed a perfect path. Dante has experienced difficult periods, instability, setbacks and complicated circumstances while continuing to develop his talents and rethink what he wants his future to represent.

Rather than hiding those chapters, he wants to transform what he has learned from them into something productive.

That same mentality influences his community goals.

His developing business vision includes Mob Up Inkk, Top Dog Affiliated, music and media production, youth creative programming, family resources, community outreach and the Top Dog Love concept.

He has also participated in Focus On Renewal's ACTES men's growth and development program as part of his continued personal and professional growth.

His long-term plans include creating opportunities where young people can discover productive creative outlets through music, visual art, media and entrepreneurship while connecting families and individuals experiencing difficult circumstances with useful resources.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Tay MOB isn't trying to remain only an independent rapper.

He is working toward becoming the owner of a larger creative platform.

His goals include expanding his music catalog, developing Top Dog Affiliated, growing Mob Up Inkk, strengthening his music-production knowledge through education, expanding into professional media and livestreaming, developing youth programs and eventually creating sustainable businesses capable of employing and helping other people.

His mission can be summarized simply:

Turn pain into creativity.

Turn creativity into ownership.

Turn ownership into opportunity.

Turn opportunity into legacy.

For Tay MOB, Pittsburgh isn't simply where the story began.

It's part of what he's trying to build the story for.

Dante Gist is the person.

Tay MOB is the artist.

Mob Up Inkk is the craft.

Top Dog Affiliated is the movement.

Legacy is the mission.
